Summary of Job Duties 
The Admissions Counselor will develop and manage a pool of prospective students in one of our designated regions. This position will develop strategic partnerships with education constituents including, counselors, principals, gifted and talented coordinators, AP teachers, University of Arkansas (UA) alumni and parents. This position will plan and implement effective recruitment strategies utilizing market research and ongoing trend analysis to set goals and monitor progress; coordinate recruiting support activities with UA alumni; develop initiatives to promote and encourage diversity that reflects the state college bound population and enriches the education experience for all UA students; and assume other related areas of responsibility as assigned or required by the Dean of Admissions. 

This position requires extensive travel including 8-10 weeks of travel in the fall, 4 weeks in the spring and some nights and weekends. 

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least one year of experience in enrollment services, academic advising, or recruiting

  • At least two years of experience in enrollment services, academic advising, or recruiting
  • At least year of experience as an admissions counselor, student ambassador, or orientation leader

  • Knowledge of university and admissions office procedures and policies
  • Proven organizational skills, including ability to prioritize tasks, demonstrate attention to detail, meet deadlines, and think creatively
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, including ability to present to a large audience
