Position Summary 

Performs the following duties that include, but not limited to: pre-register, register and admit patients, collection of money, abstracts, verifies Medicaid/ARKIDS and CMS eligibility, completes PCP sign-ups, enters ED technical and physician charges. Performs responsibilities of the patient throughput process. Discharges inpatients and Emergency Department patients. Acts as Outpatient Testing after hours. Assists in the coordination of patient flow, serves as patient information and refer patients for financial counseling. Displays Care, Love and Hope when interacting with patients, families and other ACNW team members. 

Position Duties 

1. 

Registers and admit patients with less than or equal to 5% error rate 

Utilizes ACNW systems to register and admit patients presenting to Admissions, ensuring that all demographic information obtained and required forms completed 
Pre-register SDC and referred accounts prior to date of service 
Serves as Outpatient Testing after hours 
Registers all transports and pre-admits in a timely manner 
Identifyies and corrects QA errors within required timeframes 
Accurately maintains Admit/Interview Database 

2. 

Performs Cashier Functions 

Accurately follows B/AR cashiering process including opening and closing daily batches 
Maintains daily log for petty cash, collections and money drops and performing weekly petty cash reimbursement requests 
Accurately enters ED Technical and Professional charges 

3. 

Performs Patient Information Functions 

Answers and appropriately handles all incoming calls according to HIPAA mandates 
Maintains daily visitor alert listing as deemed necessary by Social Work and Security 
Accurately logs and notifies recipients of all daily deliveries 
Accurately directs patient and families to requested locations 
Accurately departs ED accounts and discharge Inpatient accounts 

4. 

Serves As Support Staff to Patient Throughput Process 

Effectively navigates through the Bed Tracking System 
Adheres to patient throughput process timeframes 
Communicates with applicable staff regarding patient registration and placement in a timely manner 
Notifies Bed Control of all SDC, direct and clinic admits 
Monitors and notifies appropriate staff of admission status changes 

Position Qualifications 

Education Requirements 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 
  • Note: College hours preferred
Required 

Experience Requirements 

2 years previous experience in a medical or clinical setting with basic knowledge of medical terminology experience 

Preferred 

2 years previous customer service experience experience

Skill Requirements 

data entry required > 6000 SPH, 10% error rate
