The Office of Children's Services, Northern Region Office is recruiting for a
Children's Protective Services Specialist Supervisor (PSS IV) for the
Barrow Field Office.

This incumbent will be the direct Supervisor for the Barrow Children's Services staff. This supervisor is responsible for training, guidance, and supervision of staff in the performance of their duties and effective coordination with other agencies in the Barrow area for delivery of services to clients.

Serving as a community liaison with other agencies, and be a resource within the office and the community
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) along with demonstrated organizational and computer skills. Please note the following: Relocation costs are not provided by the State of Alaska for this job class. For some positions in this job class, a child protective history check will be performed per AS 12.62.160 and/or 13 AAC 68.315. The successful candidate will be required, expenses paid, to attend trainings and meetings in Anchorage and/or Fairbanks. As a requirement of these positions, the selected candidates must have a valid Alaska Driver's License or be able to obtain one within thirty (30) days of hire. All positions require a valid Alaska driver's license and successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in a social, behavioral or health science, law or a related field;
AND EITHER
One year of advanced-level professional experience in child, adult, family, or group social work. This is met by experience as a Protective Services Specialist III with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Three years of full-proficiency level professional experience in child, adult, family, or group social work or licensing experience where the required experience is met by service as a Protective Services Specialist II or Community Care Licensing Specialist I with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere;
OR
Two years of advanced/lead and/or supervisory level experience in child, adult, family, or group case management and/or probation work. This may be met by any combination of experience as an Adult Probation Officer III, Juvenile Probation Officer III or Investigator III with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere;
OR
Three years of full proficiency experience in child, adult, family, or group case management and/or probation work. This may be met by any combination of experience as an Adult Probation Officer II, Adult Probation Officer II ASAP, Juvenile Probation Officer II or Investigator II with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
Four years of any combination of postsecondary education (3 semester/ 4 quarter hours equal 1 month of experience) in a social, behavioral or health science, law or a related field and/or technical experience (at any level) providing assistance, information or referrals to the public related to social services, health care or legal services may substitute for the bachelor's degree.
Special Note:
