POSITION INFORMATION
Role Summary
The Community Relations Specialist evaluates and recommends corporate sponsorships and donations on behalf of Alaska Airlines.
Scope & Complexity
- This role supports routine to moderate complex community relations activities for Alaska Airlines.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding corporate donations to statewide non-profits, including cash and/or travel vouchers.
- Partners with the Sales Director to evaluate and make decisions regarding sponsorship opportunities and distribution of tickets or cash.
- Prepares external written communications, including press releases and blog postings, with little to no supervision.
- Creates and gathers content, including conducting interviews with employees for Alaskasworld.com stories, and photographs employee events
- Approves inter-departmental and external requests for brand/advertising/promotional support (e.g. from Employee Events/Programs and sponsored events in the community).
- Provides brand assets (logos, artwork, guidelines, etc.) to approved vendors and internal partners.
- Maintains shared online files and serves as subject matter expert and owner for records retention calendar and compliance for Public Affairs and Communications.
- Collaborates with sales and public affairs in planning, creating, and executing strategies, activities, and materials for the purpose of keeping employees informed and engaged with company performance and events.
- Recommends and provides content and engagement opportunities that strengthen the connections between the company's remote workforce and the corporate organization.
- Creates and builds communications/Power Point presentations for internal meetings and special events.
- Assists with roll-out communications for events and initiatives, to include:
- Develops strategies in support of events, projects, and initiatives.
- Shapes and implements internal communication strategies to inform, connect and engage employees.
- Communicates directly with Community Advisory Board members.
- Assists with Community Advisory Board requests, communication coordination, and distribution of corporate donations
- Reviews Alaska Airlines Foundation requests and makes recommendations.
- Processes and tracks interline pass agreements and prepares monthly reports.
- Reviews and reconciles monthly budget report.
Required
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities while meeting numerous deadlines.
- Ability to provide content for internal and external news sites.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality and maintain composure under pressure.
- Facilitation ability, diplomatic, attention to detail and good listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to readily learn new skills.
- A professional work ethic and the ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization.
- Budget processes and systems experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) skills.
- Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Preferred
- A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in business administration, marketing, or a related discipline.
- Accounting knowledge.
