Duties: 

10 Benefit Administration: Prepare and present OBO (Onboarding and Benefits Orientation) to new employees. Responsible for setting up new employee’s benefits. Prepare Family Medical Leave employee files to include employee correspondence and close-out. Essential 
10 Compensation/Classification: Research and analyze compensation requests for consultants or director. Prepare appropriate correspondence and assist departments with process. Work closely with consultants to appropriately classify positions. Complete employment verifications and work with consultants on Division of Retirement service verifications. Essential 
10 Employee relations: While maintaining professional ethical standards, look after the interests of all parties: management, employees, and the institution as a whole. In conjunction with a consultant and/or director, recognize internal policies and procedures and external statutes and laws that relate to employment situations and appropriately apply them. Research, review and prepare appropriate documentation. Recognize when a situation may need to be referred to a senior consultant or the Director to mediate disputes and facilitate communication between parties. May participate in conducting investigations and recommend follow-up actions and remedies. Maxient Conduct Database: Responsible for case creation, updating, and maintaining compliance of all cases. Essential 
10 Employee Training and Intervention: In coordination with the consultants and in support of employee/organizational development programs, develop training materials and deliver various training. Facilitate training and interventions. Follow-up with clients to assess training and/or intervention. Essential 
10 Payroll/Personnel: Work closely with Payroll/Personnel Managers to run browsers, assist with late setups, and run retroactive pays. This position will learn the intricacies of how payroll/personnel and consultant services are intertwined to ensure the overall success of UAF Human Resources. Essential 
25 Employment Documentation: Review employment documentation (job forms, appointment letters, emergency hire forms, performance evaluation forms, system termination forms, and new hire paperwork) for correctness and completeness. Essential 
25 Recruitment: Assist consultants with overseeing the integrity of the recruitment process for all recruitments within the client group. Prepare and help present search committee training and best practices. Junior Consultants will work closely with the MYUA recruitment system, troubleshooting and resolving issues for UAF departments. Provide MYUA user training to all new employees. Advise departments on the recruitment process. Essential 

About this position: 

Position is Non-Exempt, Full-Time Regular. Salary is Grade 78, minimum $23.60 hourly, DOE. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: 
  • Requires intermediate knowledge of HR processes, HR theory and HR Compliance
  • Requires analytical and problem solving skills, innovative thinking
  • Requires Intermediate level knowledge of MS word, excel, and relational databases
  • Requires written and oral communication skills and customer service skills
  • Ability to gather and analyze data
  • Ability to present information to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to interpret regulations and contracts
Education and/or Training Required for this Position: 

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or similar degree and one year professional HR experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Type and Length of Experience Required for this Position: 

Two years experience at the administrative HR level, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
