JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising employment services in multiple state prisons and parole offices, across multiple counties, and serves as the point of contact with the Department of Corrections.
JOB DUTIES:
- Travel as required to monitor, evaluate, and coordinate staff training and services in state prison employment centers and parole locations
- Maintain effective and efficient delivery of services that focus on employment outcomes, and develop and monitor corrective action plans as necessary
- Coordinate with Business Services to establish contact with employers and community partners to facilitate employment opportunities for incarcerated individuals
- Participate in activities for overall operations to include community, inter/intra agency, employer meetings, and events
- Respond to public and program inquiries, customer concerns, and/or provide program information, public relations (reports, articles, etc.)
- Prepare status and performance reports
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
- Community and employment resources available for ex-offenders
- Employment related concerns of ex-offenders transitioning into the workforce
- Using national, state, and local Labor Market Information
- Group facilitation in prison environment
Skill in:
- Problem solving, public relations, decision making, and ability to organize and mobilize staff, and effective and persuasive written and oral communication with diverse populations.
- Organizing, planning, and a high degree of multi-tasking and managing multi priorities.
- Interpersonal skills involving coordination, teamwork, and leadership, and classroom instruction and public speaking
- Statistical and programmatic information gathering, data analysis, evaluation and interpretation and reporting
- Following instructions with a minimum of direction, and giving clear directions
- Responding quickly in emergency situations and working independently in high visible, deadline oriented environment
Ability to:
- Stay on task and complete long term projects, think strategically and apply abstract principles and goals, and manage projects effectively with attention to detail
- Facilitate and lead meetings, use efficient time management, and make independent decisions
- Organize and coordinate activities in a prison setting, and interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations relative to the work
- Be trained in safety/security and behavior management procedures
- Maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work
- Work effectively under pressure of deadlines, and work a flexible schedule
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidate needs at least 2 years of supervision experience with at least 1 of those years managing remote teams
- Have a current, valid state issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employee is subject to driver’s license record checks and must maintain an acceptable driving record, valid motor vehicle insurance and registration, and must complete any required training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
- Apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements
- Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees
- Be subject to a search of Child Protective Services Central Registry
- Successfully pass background and reference checks. Employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
